Our Story: Modernizing the Trades

Day Labor On Demand (DLOD) wasn't born in a boardroom; it was born on the front lines of hard work. Our founder, Matthew Kobilan, knows exactly what it's like to be on both sides of the job site.

"I saw the system was broken for everyone involved."

— Matthew Kobilan, Founder

The Frustration of a Day Laborer

Matthew spent years working as a day laborer, facing the harsh reality of the traditional staffing agency model. He saw first-hand how agencies would charge contractors a premium, while the worker—doing the actual heavy lifting—received only a fraction of that pay. Even more frustrating was seeing a great opportunity for a permanent position blocked by restrictive contracts and expensive buyout fees that local companies simply couldn't afford.

The Burden of a Business Owner

When Matthew transitioned to owning his own junk removal company, the pain points only intensified. As an owner, he hated the long-term contracts, hidden fees, and the bureaucratic red tape that traditional temp staffing models required. He wanted to hire reliable workers at a fair rate, but the middleman was always standing in the way, making it harder to scale and harder for laborers to find good jobs.

The Solution: Day Labor On Demand

Matthew decided enough was enough. He created DLOD to streamline the connection between the temporary workforce and those who need their skills. By removing the traditional agency middleman, DLOD allows for:

  • Fair Pay: Workers keep more of what they earn.
  • No Buyout Fees: Companies can hire the people they like without legal headaches.
  • Instant Connections: Find manual labor jobs or a temporary workforce in minutes, not days.
  • Transparency: Direct communication between the laborer and the contractor.

DLOD is more than just an app; it's a movement to empower the trades. We are building a platform that values hard work and respects both the seeker and the provider. Join us in modernizing the way we work.
